Premiership is "Boring"

Robert Binge, London 20th September, 2005

The Premiership is shit. It always has been pretty boring, but now it's like the Scottish league was in the late eighties, with one team having bought all the players. A team that easily wins its domestic league with a huge squad, three times the size of all the other teams, yet that strangely fails to make any real mark in Europe.

Just look at the list of shit teams in what is supposed to be the top division: Wigan, Bolton, Middlesboro, West Ham, West Brom, Charlton, Sunderland, Blackburn, Birmingham, Fulham. The only reason any of these are safe from relegation is that the chances are there's going to be three teams even worse than they are. Just think of all the mouthwatering fixtures you can get from those teams. There's absolutely fuck all incentive for neutral fans to watch ANY of these boring teams.

The so-called "top" sides aren't much better. Look at the drab 0-0 draw between Liverpool and Manchester United last weekend. Even their own fans were bored shit-less. Then there's Chelsea who aren't even a proper team, with an army of fat and ugly men in their thirties that have all suddenly decided to start supporting them in the last couple of years. Some of them are probably former Arsenal and United "fans".

Cracks are beginning to show in fans' gullibility. For years they have simply just bought ANY old piece of tat with the club's badge on it. Key rings, rulers, pens, mugs. Mugs. But some of these mugs are now realising they've been shafted for all their money just so that ugly retards can have garish gold watches and really bad haircuts. Then when it really matters in a crucial game, the player is "too tired" from a midweek game, or if he has a drug test, he forgets and goes shopping.

Ferdinand was booed in pre-season friendlies for his delay in signing a new contract, after making inflated wage demands. For a while it looked like fans had had enough. But it turns out that they're all idiots after all because as soon as he'd signed a contract and said "I am loyal to this 100 grand a week, I mean club", they forgave him.

In the end it's up to the fans. Unless they stop handing over their money so willingly, the quality is just going to go down and down. Why on earth are club owners and chairmen going to do anything else? They and the players love taking your money. So long as you keep paying, you're going to keep getting shafted and they're going to get ever richer. You're getting a really, really shit deal as it is, and it's going to get a lot worse.
