Bad Loser: I didn't lose, you're wrong, I'm right

Simon Coggeshall, London 10th November, 2005

Blair started this whole self-righteous, self-delusional modus-operandus. It's such New Labour, "I Know Best", smug, self-satisfied, Nanny State bollocks. The Blair still thinks he is right. He doesn't give a flying fuck what the public thinks, and it's now clear that he doesn't care what the House thinks either. He just knows he is right. He's on his way out this time.

Then you have the self-proclaimed Special One. A man whose main talents comprise wearing a coat, being rude and appearing in lots of adverts.

Both men are products of the New Age, style over substance, ad-driven delusion at the heart of New Labour's philosophy. Yet both men are gripped by the same madness that brought down Julias Caesar: the belief that they are untouchable. Glenn Hoddle also had that whole "Holier than thou" attitude, and his inevitable downfall and well-earned hubris could be clearly predicted by all but himself. So too Mourinho seems to be suffering from the same totally unsupportable delusions of grandeur.

Look at Paul Jewell and Wigan. If Mourinho and Jewell swapped places, then would the table look the same? Piss off, without his Russian Mafia money, Mourihno's Wigan would be bottom. By miles. On the other hand if Jewell can get Wigan into second place, I would expect at least as good with all the cash to simply buy all the players. There's no fucking skill involved in managing Chelsea, except for wearing a big coat and sulking at every single (valid) decision that goes against you.

All I have left to say on the subject is to say to both men "Ha, ha, you lost! You pair of sulking babies, you had both better grow up and get used to it."
